One example of cultural imperialism I learned about is through military occupation. I had never learned about the way American culture brought through military occupation led to young people in Iraq adopting new hairstyles, tattoos, and music and media interests. This created a disturbance especially due to some of these things running counter to religious and cultural beliefs traditionally held in Iraq. This demonstrates that a culture’s military cannot occupy another country without leaving an imprint on the culture in positive or negative ways.
